FEDUp is a national, grassroots coalition calling for immediate, comprehensive federal action to end the opioid addiction epidemic. In addition to regularly sponsoring the annual rally, Trish has personally supported FEDUp for the past five years. FEDUp has been incredibly impactful in ensuring that legislation addressing recovery and prevention programs be funded. The CARA Act (Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act) passed Congress just this fall. At the 2018 rally, Trish spoke about using art, and especially film, as a powerful tool for raising awareness about the opioid epidemic, as a way to end stigma, and as therapy for both those in recovery and family members grieving lost loved ones.

Art is one way for us to advocate what we want. I know that there are people who do not believe in the power of art, and I am okay with it. I understand that we all have our own opinion when it comes to things. I am interested to know what other people's opinion regarding art and advocacy. I am okay to have lengthy discussions with people who want to talk about this topic, just hit me up any time.

I love the fact that art can be used as a tool to make people aware of something and help that issue or stigma end. I am a person who loves expressing myself through arts since I was still studying. It really saddens me sometimes when I hear people degrade it and consider it as something that is not special enough. We all need to learn the idea and importance of arts and its uses. We have to use it as a helpful tool to make this world better and more useful. I am expecting that everyone will become aware of this and be inspired to take some actions.
