King of the World
King of the World is the glowmedia project's fifth film in its collection of shorts addressing various mental health topics.
King of the World is a short (10-minute) film about a teenager living with bipolar disorder. C. J., a senior in high school, has been managing well with daily medications and lifestyle modifications. After being cast in the leading role for a school movie production, he begins to cycle into a manic phase. His friends become worried and try to help. C.J.’s story raises awareness about bipolar disorder and emphasizes the importance of peer and family support for those living with a mental illness. Justin Chiet
Director/Co-Writer Justin found his passion in visual storytelling as a child through creating comic books and 35mm B&W photography, inspired by his mother’s father who shot for LIFE magazine. His parents always supported his love for art and pushed him to pursue newfound ventures, like years of lessons behind the drumset. He realized what he wanted to do with his life at age 11 after seeing a few life-changing films and being gifted a camcorder by his father’s father. With an artist for a mother and a father in advertising, he realized he could maintain a career in his dream industry by creating custom content to help businesses and individuals succeed in their own industries. He started Chiet Productions while in college and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Media and Film in 2011 from Towson University. Staying true to his roots, he strives to evoke emotion, character, and story through innovative and compelling visuals, always utilizing sound and music to influence the edit. Chiet also freelances as a Director of Photography [DP], Camera Operator, and Drone Pilot. Most recently, Justin DP’d PBS’s music variety show Live At 9:30, DP’d a feature length American adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear and adopted a siberian husky. |
