King of the World

King of the World is the glowmedia project's fifth film in its collection of shorts addressing various mental health topics. 

King of the World is a short (10-minute) film about a teenager living with bipolar disorder.  C. J., a senior in high school, has been managing well with daily medications and lifestyle modifications. After being cast in the leading role for a school movie production, he begins to cycle into a manic phase.   His friends become worried and try to help. C.J.’s story raises awareness about bipolar disorder and emphasizes the importance of peer and family support for those living with a mental illness.

Trish Glowacki
​
Executive Producer
Trish Glowacki is a thespian, writer, and songwriter.  Her first musical, the award winning WARNING: Take Only As Directed, has been adapted for the screen.  After founding the glowmedia project in 2016, Trish co-wrote three more short films, also part of the glowmedia project.  As an actor, choreographer and director over the years, Trish honed her skills at Adventure Theatre, a theater for young audiences, in Glen Echo, Maryland.  Her most notable acting roles include Little Red Riding Hood and Chicken Little. Trish has served on many different boards in the D.C. area and is involved with several volunteer organizations.  Raising awareness about the importance of mental health education is her current major focus. Trish lives in Washington, D.C.

Kayla Berry
Co-Writer/Producer/Performance  Director
​Kayla Berry is an aspiring physician who recently graduated from Amherst College. She was introduced to film during a study abroad program her junior year. After her brother’s passing she turned to film as an outlet. She is so grateful to have been able to work with the glowmedia project to bring her brother’s spirit and love for the arts to life through King of The World.

Andrea Hansell, PhD
Co-Writer
Andrea Hansell, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with many years’ experience working with children and adolescents and their parents. Dr. Hansell is also a published author of several short stories. 
 Andrea received her BA in Psychology and Creative Writing from Princeton, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan.

Justin Chiet

Justin found his passion in visual storytelling as a child through creating comic books and 35mm B&W photography, inspired by his mother’s father who shot for LIFE magazine. His parents always supported his love for art and pushed him to pursue newfound ventures, like years of lessons behind the drumset. He realized what he wanted to do with his life at age 11 after seeing a few life-changing films and being gifted a camcorder by his father’s father. With an artist for a mother and a father in advertising, he realized he could maintain a career in his dream industry by creating custom content to help businesses and individuals succeed in their own industries.He started Chiet Productions while in college and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Media and Film in 2011 from Towson University. Staying true to his roots, he strives to evoke emotion, character, and story through innovative and compelling visuals, always utilizing sound and music to influence the edit. Chiet also freelances as a Director of Photography [DP], Camera Operator, and Drone Pilot. Most recently, Justin DP’d PBS’s music variety show Live At 9:30, DP’d a feature length American adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear and adopted a siberian husky.

​Music Producer/Songwriter
Chris Wonzer is a music producer who has been professionally involved in the business for over 20 years. In this time he’s worked in various capacities on over 70 major label releases (19 certified platinum) and over 25 indie records. He’s worked extensively with many other successful producers such as Linda Perry(Christina Aguilera, Pink, 4 non blondes) and Ron Fair (Christina Aguilera, The Pussycat Dolls) to name a few. He’s worked with artists like Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray, Enrique Iglesias, Black Eyed Peas, and many more in his career.

Ava Camille
Musician/Songwriter
Ava Camille grew up singing and songwriting in the Washington D.C. area. As a little girl, her two favorite artists were Tina Turner and the Dixie Chicks. Such different sounds made Ava question her own authenticity and musical direction - components she’s still trying to discover today. Her musical heroes range from Turner and the Dixie Chicks, to Nina Simone, James Bay and Alicia Keys - all of whom have helped craft her soft pop sounds. Ava will always be absorbing other sounds and evolving as an artist, but what she always hopes to convey is her honest and relatable experiences as 24 year old woman. She hopes you take the journey with her!Ava is based in Boston.  Ava wrote and performs the song Patagonia Sunrise on the King of the World Soundtrack.  A family friend of the Berry's, Ava is honored to be a part of this important film and hopes that it will raise awareness about bipolar disorder.

​Matthew Holliday, C.J. 
​Matthew Holliday is a recent graduate of Amherst College where he double majored in Theater & Dance and Black Studies. During his time at Amherst, Matthew participated in several dance repertory projects, including Camille A. Brown’s ‘New Second Line’ and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane’s Story/Time, as well as multiple other Theater Department productions. In addition, he also served as artistic director of the hip-hop dance team, Dance and Step at Amherst College. King of the World is Matthew’s first professional onscreen role. It was an honor to portray CJ and celebrate the life of KC Berry through his performance. He would like to thank everyone at Chiet Productions and the Berry family for the support and love during the production process. He hopes King of the World widens audience members’ understanding of bipolar disorder and that KC’s story serves as a testament of survival and of the human experience. Matthew is based in New York City where he continues to practice dance, acting and arts administration work.

Janae Palmer, Hailey

Janae Palmer is an actress in the D.C/Maryland/Virginia area. She received two Bachelor of Arts degrees; one in Theatre and one in Dance. Since graduating four years ago Janae has been involved in a number of films, tv shows, and commercials. Her most recent work has been a feature film called The Special, a short film called Blue, and a tv series soon to air on the Travel Channel called Shadows of History. Starting in January, Janae will be playing the lead role in a 6 episode tv series called Camisado. Janae was thrilled to be a part of King of the World, and hopes the short film will bring more awareness and education to mental health.

Dahjn Maria Gomez, C.J.'s Mom
Dahjn, pronounced Don, Maria Gomez is a New York Native from the Bronx.  This SAG-AFTRA actress started her acting career in Theatre at the tender age of 7.
In addition to TV/Film , Ms. Gomez is versed in Voiceover, a flutist and a classically trained singer.  She has also returned to college to pursue her B.F.A. in Acting and will move onto obtaining her M.F.A. in Acting as well.
This mother of 2 and grandmother of 2 states that her children and grandchildren keep her focused and give her plenty of nuances to draw from for her acting.
Dahjn is honored to be chosen for this important work.  As a mother of an autistic daughter. she uses her experiences and compassion to weave into her character to help give full attention to the serious matter of Bipolar Disorder it deserves.

Noah Chiet, Tyler
Noah Chiet is an interdisciplinary artist originally from Maryland. Noah has had the incredible opportunity of working with some of the best artists in Washington D.C., acting professionally since they were 11. Some of their favorite projects include a pictorial appearance in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, portraying a young Ben Stiller, a new-musical called Liberty Smith at Ford’s Theatre, and Hysteria, an immersive horror piece with the Neo-Political Cowgirls out of NYC. In addition to acting, Noah is the Editor-in-Chief of EM, an arts collective + magazine, a stylist, visual artist, and filmmaker. They will receive their BFA in Theatre & Performance from Emerson College in May 2020.

Selena Neal, Nora
Selena Neal has had a love for the performing since the 5th grade. Fall of 2010, Selena was invited to audition for a performing arts school - John Robert Powers, now called Starz2Be. Once they saw her petite size and heard her voice, she was labeled the “little powerhouse with a blend of pop and country”. Immediately convinced of Selena’s gift as a singer, the staff set out to make her a well-rounded performer. Every Sunday for two years, she learned acting techniques from actress Susan Scher as well as received training for make-up and modeling under models Candace Hill and Lisa Shannon.
Starz2Be later sent her to audition for the nationally syndicated television series Aqua Kids in 2011. Selena was a cast member on the Telly Award-winning show for five seasons. Every summer for six years she traveled across the country talking to marine biologists about what we could do to protect the planet. She was even one of the singers in a remake of the show’s theme song.
In 2019, Selena decided it was time to commit to her purpose and share her empowering gifts with the world. She now works full-time as a singer, actress, and model.

Sheldon King, C.J.'s Dad
Sheldon King is a North Carolina native who was raised in Richmond, Virginia area. Sheldon’s early performing ambition first arose as a youth when he began acting in stage plays in his school years.  Sheldon has now been a professional actor for over 15 years. He has amassed dozens of credentials in various commercials, film, and television productions. You will also see him playing the character "Lou" in the upcoming TV Pilot “Swagger”.

Jay Bronson is an American Actor, Comedian, and filmmaker. Born in Charleston South Carolina, Jay has done film productions all over the United States. Jay has also been doing improv and stand-up comedy for several years. At 6’1 190lbs. Jay’s measurements land as precise as his timing. IMDB accredited. Similar personas include: Tom Hanks, Timothy Olyphant, Jim Carrey.
